Circa-2000, Intuit decided that the Mac market wasn’t worth supporting, and effectively ended support for the product. Quicken for the Mac users at some level are masochists.That’s right, this file has 15 years of meticulous data in it. I’ve used Quicken since 1994 to keep track of my expenses and investments.I’m using Quicken 2007 for the Mac, updated with the R2 updater and the R3 Certificate updater.I’m posting this here on the blog because my Google searches on the topic turned up *nothing*, and the Intuit boards were useless on this topic. It happened to me this weekend, and after a couple days of experiments, I finally solved the problem. It may take a few minutes for the import to complete - this time will vary depending on the size and complexity of the file being imported.Only a long time Quicken user will empathize with the trauma of having your Quicken data file fail to open. Then choose 'Import' and your wait for your data to populate into the program. This will allow you to check which date format and decimal character are used within your file. If you want to check, you can open the QIF file with a program like TextEdit or NotePad to view the file contents. Moneydance should automatically detect the settings used within your file.The "Import QIF File" window will appear. Navigate to your QIF file, select the file, and click "OK". Follow the prompts to create a new file as a "Minimal Account Set," then go to File -> Import.Ī file browser will be displayed. If you would like to open a new, blank data file before importing go to File -> New. If you have already run Moneydance and have an existing Moneydance data file, navigate to File -> Import.
Click the button that says "Import New Account Set". If this is the first time you have run Moneydance you will be presented with 3 options within the 'Welcome to Moneydance' window. Moneydance analyzes the file to figure out the best way to import the data.
Moneydance 2019 can migrate your data from other applications without a multi-step process or dealing with complicated settings. This can be accomplished in Quicken from the File -> Export. Transferring financial data into Moneydance requires that the data first be exported as a QIF file.
